My mom rocks

Today was my first appointment with the IVF nurse. The hubby was at work up in Orange County so my mom came along for the ride!

We started with a 30-minute video that helped explained the ins-and-outs, complete with a powerpoint notes packet. Then one of the gals came in and gave me some paper work. But the most exciting thing was when we finally got to talk calendar. Yay!

It's kind of weird to have it be so theoretical for so long, and then now I have actual DATES marked off where something is actually going to happen! I've already connected with a pal to sub for the time I have to be gone doing the monitoring ultrasounds - and luckily one's on a Saturday so that's less time off to be banked for later.

September 14th - the day Stephen and I will head down for the baseline ultrasound, and "injection training". Haha  - I know he's "really" looking forward to that. :0)  (Love you husband!) The drugs will start on the 15th. Shots? No biggee to me! I say bring it on!

All in all, September is sure to be an exciting month. The whole process will be wrapped up by the first week of October; and then it's the dreaded 16-day WAIT until I get to go in for a pregnancy test. But, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. (My mom and I were laughing about how it'll probably be harder for my friends and family to deal with my craziness for those days than when I'm on all the hormones!) LOL.

After the appointment, we decided to go to Brigantine for an early dinner because, well... because we could! Spinach salads - countered by potatoe skins with cheese. :0)  I think we'll make Brigantine Happy Hour a new tradition!

So grateful and blessed with so many amazing, supportive friends and family! Love you all!

Cha-ching....

(If credit cards made a money sound.) :0)

Stephen was all over the place on the phone and email finishing up the hours of meds research I'd put in this summer. When we were originally quoted $4000-$6000 for medications our jaws dropped! I worked hard to figure out the cheapest way to go, and am relieved now to say that the order is in and most of it will be on it's way from the UK soon!  (Yes, WAAAAAY cheaper over there!) IVFmeds.com cost just over half of what we were quoted from various pharmacy sources in the US. (It pays off to do your due diligence!)

We are at peace about the money - and grateful that I have the opportunity to even go from full to part time. The increase in salary will cover almost all of the IVF process. (And Top Ramen will help with the rest, right? hehehehehehehehee...)

I've also officially scheduled my first appointment with the nurse for Wednesday at 2:00.  (Will have to get a sub for the last period of the day.) She will go over everything again, and work out an official calendar so I'll have all my dates figured out. Already have a friend waiting for the call to sub for me on those days so my students will hardly miss a beat.

Did I say yet how crazy excited I am?!

And so it begins...

IF YOU LINK TO THIS PAGE, BUT WANT THE MOST CURRENT POSTS - GO TO "HOME". :0)

All righty, I've "made" a blog and am attempting to write my very first post - cool!

Starting up this blog for friends and family who want to stay updated on our infertility journey and process, and then hopefully on a future little one (or more!) to come.

As of right now, we are officially starting our very first IVF cycle through the San Diego Fertility Center. After many, many months of decisions, prayer, and seeking wise counsel we believe that this is the journey that God has chosen for us.  And I am beyond excited!

(Below is a link to a blog that has been very encouraging for us.)
